Panels and Programs from most recent conference, February 3, 2012.

 

9 am – 10:30 am – Using and understanding social media – How to use Facebook, Twitter, blogging and other forms of social media to get your work out to the public, connect with readers and enhance your footprint on the Internet. This is a media presentation with a panel.

 

10:45 am – 12:15 pm – Master Editor and writing consultant Chris Roerden gives the secrets all writers need.  Master Emotion: Play with Showing v. Telling. Make your writing stronger and be a better storyteller.

 

12:30 – 1:30 – Go out for lunch or stay at the library to hear writers discuss the bare bones of writing. We’ll have food and drinks on hand for a free, modest working lunch.  Plotting, characters, how to, writing groups, etc.  Panel discussion.

 

1:45 – 3 pm – Authors from all levels of experience discuss new and traditional publishing tips. What you’ve always wanted to know about getting, and staying, published.  Panel discussion.

 

3:15 – 4:30 – Market or Die – Looking for new and unique ways to market your work? Whether you’re a  new writer or have many books published, everyone needs to have ideas on how and when to market their work. What is a platform and how do you build one? Panel Discussion.

 

 

New this year:

Randy Rawls, author of several mystery books, will critique the first ten pages of any manuscript. If you'd like an honest appraisal of your writing from someone who's not worried about hurting your feelings in the process, here's your chance. Details for submission will be given at the conference.
